Joy is something that sometimes I cannot find words enough to express it. There is a difference between happiness and joy though the common definitions according to the dictionaries do not really seperate the two terms.
The Oxford Languages Dictionary states it as follows
Joy: a feeling of great pleasure and happiness, delight
Happiness: contentment, pleasure
In the Bible we have a deeper understanding of the word Joy. The joy that Jesus spoke about in the above Bible passage ( John 15:11) is more than feeling happy, it is a state of what I would call “ecstasy” when you even sometimes cannot grasp the understanding of it?. The Joy of the Lord is our strength says the Bible (Nehemiah 8:10). The joy of the Lord overtakes your whole being and you sometimes feel like not knowing what to do! This is what happens to me and I could ask myself what? Shall I laugh, shall I cry, shall I scream, shall I jump, shall I run? And all this is happening while I am in that state of ” Holy Joy” Wow?
The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit is the supplier of joy for us (Romans 14:17). If you want to experience that JOY OF THE LORD, I invite you to make Jesus the Lord and Saviour of your life and you shall have the gift of the Holy Spirit; if you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved as per Romans 10:9. You will never be sorry for making this quality decision to have that so much needed joy in this world we are living right now.
